Our Future

Holy Trinity Church - serving your community

We are there for the whole community, regardless of age or life circumstances. Do you realise all the services that we offer you? Here are some examples:

  • Baby and Toddler Group - Trinity Bunnies for parent/carer and children.
  • Family Church: A monthly short informal service for all the family with craft activities, singing, bible story and refreshments.
  • After School Club. Once a week, free for children at Theale Primary (no charge)
  • Pastoral Care and support for all. Bereavement counselling, wedding preparation etc.
  • Working with the local schools: our Vicar takes assembly weekly at Theale Primary School, often visits RE lessons and also teaches Latin. Theale Primary uses our magnificent building for its special termly services and also for assemblies twice a week. The Vicar also teaches some Latin at Theale Green Secondary school.
  • Regular Concerts showcasing local musical talent
  • Celebrating key moments in people's lives. Baptisms, Weddings, and Funerals
  • Social events to encourage friendship and community: Quizzes, coffee mornings, and craft groups.
  • Community Events
  • Junior, Senior Choir and Orchestra
  • Teaching and Further Education: Sunday School, House groups, talks about the Bible, ethical issues etc.

The Future of our Church - We need your support!

At present the parishes of Holy Trinity Theale and St Mark's Englefield are joined together as the UNITED BENEFICE OF THEALE & ENGLEFIELD.

Englefield Church Council has petitioned the Church authorities to separate the two parishes.

Theale Church Council has objected to the proposal on the following grounds:

  1. The ministry of the Church in Theale and Englefield is much more effective if we are both working together serving our intertwined communities. We want to maintain the present system of a full-time priest in Theale and a part-time priest in Englefield with separate Sunday services but working together on community projects like the Toddler group, Family Church, Bereavement group etc.

  2. The proposal raises concerns about how the necessary funding will be found to maintain in future the full-time priest that Theale needs to serve the community effectively.

STOP PRESS!

Some financial support has now been provisionally* offered. BUT the community of Theale will still need to find an extra £3,000 year on year from the already challenging £30k in 2017 to c £60k in 2027.

*this cannot be confirmed until February 2018

WE CANNOT ACHIEVE THIS WITHOUT YOUR HELP
